The proposed
site for the new high school is off of US Hwy
13, beside the current Bertie Middle School and
across the street from the current Bertie High
School.
Facts Regarding the Site
Per WIMCO:

If the site were
“average”, the savings would be about
$250,000. However, if the site was moved
away from its present location and athletic
facilities had to be built, the cost of the
athletic facilities would be several times this
amount.
·
If the site were
moved, land would need to be purchased and the
site would have to be redesigned and
re-permitted. This would require several months.
There would be significant site redesign and
permitting costs.
·
Construction costs
are rising as time goes by. The theoretical
savings for an alternate site with “average”
soil conditions would be negated if re-bid
several months from now, according to WIMCO.
