Bertie County and Town of Windsor officials
continue to coordinate with NC Emergency
Management staff to compile damage
assessment estimates for impacted areas
countywide and the Town of Windsor, in order
to determine the level of State financial
assistance available for residents and
business impacted by last week’s flooding.
Immediate assistance for unmet needs such
as replacement of medication, lost dentures,
food and short term housing is available
through the Red Cross, which has staff at
the Department of Social Services building
and is located at 110 Jasper Avenue.
Red Cross services will continue through
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and
Sunday of this week.
For immediate assistance with clean-up,
muck-out, removal of soiled carpet, wet
drywall and soggy insulation or duct work
removal, residents are encouraged to visit:

The United Methodist Disaster Relief
application center at the NC mobile
disaster recovery center located at the
rear parking lot of the County’s
Department of Social Services building
at 110 Jasper Avenue.

The North Carolina Baptist Men are
taking applications to assist residents
with flood damage clean-up and are
located at the Cashie Baptist Church at
221 South Queen Street in Windsor.

availability of specific financial
assistance will be forthcoming.
Citizens whose residences were not impacted
are encouraged to check on their family
members, friends and neighbors who may need
a helping hand or someone to run errands for
them. Please consider what your
church, civic organization or individual
citizen can do to support their community at
this critical time of stress and concern for
the people impacted by this flooding.
