Waterways

Chowan River

Among the State's most beautiful rivers, the Chowan River provides fishing, boating, sailing and water skiing, in addition to over 20 miles of shoreline.  The rivers averages more than two miles in width through the County.

 

Roanoke River

One of the State's most industry-compatible rivers borders the County for more than 50 miles before emptying into the Albemarle Sound.

 

Cashie River

The Cashie winds through the County for more than 20 miles and is home of the Sans Souci Ferry, one of the State's last operational two-car ferries.  The Cashie has an average depth of 20 feet but in some spots can be as deep as 80 feet.
